How many regular season games are there in a season?

SUMMER SEASON
Men’s (All divisions - Oakville & Milton) – 15 Games
Women’s – 15 Games
Youth – 10 Games

FALL SEASON
Men’s (All divisions – Oakville & Milton) – 10 Games

How long are the games?

Men’s (All divisions – Oakville & Milton) and Women’s – Two 15-Minute Stop Time Periods

When does the season start and end?

What equipment is required?

Player’s Equipment:

Mandatory Equipment:
CSA Approved ice hockey helmet
Hockey gloves
Protective cup
Full CSA approved facial protection (Women’s division)

Optional (But recommended):
Shin pads
Soft knee pads
Full CSA approved facial protection
Mouth guard
Full CSA Approved facial protection

Goaltenders Equipment:
Full CSA approved ice hockey goaltender equipment required
Mask must be CSA approved (no “cats-eye” grille) or CSA approved helmet with full cage

What are the age groups?

Men’s – 18 years of age at start of season
Masters – 30 years of age (*Special rules apply – See Bylaws in RULEBOOK section)
Women’s – 18 years of age at start of season
Youth – 4 to 17 (Various age divisions – See HMBHL website for rules)

How do I register?

You can register and pay online through our Registration page. Other options include mailing or dropping off payment to the address given on the Registration page or you may attend one of our registration dates – See Registration for scheduled dates and times.

What is the cost to register?

Team Registration:
Men’s – Oakville & Milton - Elite, Advanced, Intermediate, Recreational - $2,149.00
Men’s – Masters - $2,099.00
Women’s - $1,999.00

Individual:
Men’s – Oakville & Milton - $175.00 (includes jersey)
Women’s - $159.00
Youth – Oakville - $149.00
Youth – Halton (Oakville/Burlington) - $135.00

Can I play with my friends?

Yes, If you join as a team you are guaranteed to play with those you have signed to your roster. If you join along with a group of friends through our Individual registration make a note of who you joined with and we’ll keep your group of friends together.

How many players are there on a team?

If you register with the league as a Team you can have a maximum of 22 players on your roster. The amount of players on a team ranges between 12 and 18 players. The average team has 16 players.

Are there different divisions for different skill levels?

Yes, for:
Men’s - Elite, Tier 2, Milton Intermediate, Oakville Advanced, Oakville Intermediate, Oakville Recreational

These divisions are based on the calibre/skill level of the players. The number of Divisions is determined by the number of teams registered. Newer or less experienced teams or players are placed in our Recreational division. More experienced or skilled teams are placed in one of the higher divisions ranging from Intermediate to Elite (highest).

Masters – Division caters to ages 30 and over and is a high skill division

Women’s – This is a new division so currently includes all skill levels

Youth – Determined by age groups ranging from Tyke (ages 4-5) to Junior (16-17)

What do the winning teams receive at the end of the year?

Each player on the winning team (playoff winners) is awarded with commemorative PBHL merchandise (jacket, hat, bag, golf shirt, trophies etc.) The prizes vary for each division and from year to year.

The winning teams also represent their team/league/city at the OBHA Provincial Championships - see Tournaments for scheduled tournament dates.

Winning teams (regular season) have the option to represent their team/league/city at the North American Ball Hockey Championships (NABHC) at their own expense.

If we win the OBHA Provincial Championships can we move on?

OBHA Provincial championship winning teams can move on to compete at the CBHA Canadian Provincial Championships – see Tournaments for scheduled tournament dates.
